Cara Riekhof
Raised on a diversified livestock and crop farm near Lexington, Missouri, Cara Riekhof learned a work ethic and passion for agriculture. With the help of a supportive family, Riekhof had great experiences in 4-H and FFA during high school and AFA throughout her college years.
Cara always enjoyed speaking to groups in those organizations and leading. With the two passions in her life being talking and agriculture, Riekhof found a perfect fit at the University of Missouri-Columbia majoring in Agriculture Journalism. Active in numerous student organizations in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, Riekhof, experienced agriculture in other states and Europe. After obtaining a bachelors degree, Cara, married Garrett Riekhof a native of Higginsville, who is a fourth generation farmer.
With a degree in Agriculture Journalism, Cara joined KMZU radio as Farm Director and was on the airwaves for three years. In addition to broadcasting she assisted the sales staff in creating and promoting marketing plans for agricultural clients. Wanting to spend more time with family and children, Cara found a career closer to home as the Dealer Development Manager for HeartLand Farm and Lawn, a John Deere Dealership with four locations in Central Missouri. While at HeartLand, Riekhof was responsible for the Human Resources and communication efforts for nearly one hundred employees and was the liaison to John Deere Corporation during two merger/acquisitions during her employment. Business strategy and optimization are experiences that Riekhof will bring to the Communication/Development position of Ag Solutions Plus.
Cara has been named Lafayette County Farm Bureau Women of the year and served four years as an elected member to the County, University of Missouri-Extension Council. She is immediate past Secretary of the Higginsville Chamber of Commerce and serves as their Ag Committee Chairperson. Riekhof was recently nominated Co-Chair of the Citizens for Great Schools an effort for continuing a bond issue in 2009.
